Blepharoplasty - The Procedure
Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is one of the most popular procedures performed by Dr. Allcroft. The surgery can help improve a tired, sad, or angry look that patients with aging eyelids can sometimes have. Bags under the eyes and droopy eyelids, extra tissue in the upper eyelids can be remarkably improved and can help you look healthy, more alert, and youthful.
When an upper eyelid lift is performed, it may be done under light oral sedation and local anesthesia. Lower eyelid surgery typically requires being completely asleep with deep IV sedation. Most patients are comfortable being back in the public eye after 7-10 days.
For the upper eyelid blepharoplasty, the incision is hidden in the skin crease of the upper eyelid. Extra skin, muscle, and sometimes extra fat is removed depending on the individual.
For the lower lids, the puffy bags are typically caused by protruding fat. This fat may be removed or repositioned to fill in hollows some people have under the eyes. Extra skin can be removed with a small surgical incision or tightened with a chemical peel at the time of eyelid surgery.
Dr. Allcroft is very experienced with a wide variety of eyelid procedures. This knowledge base is important when artfully and safely performing blepharoplasty.
